History of the Multicultural Greek Council

In 1998, a group of twelve culturally based fraternities and sororities came together to form the Multicultural Pan-Hellenic Alliance (MCPA). In 1999, nine of the original groups formed what is now known as the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) and received official recognition by the university.

MGC serves as the umbrella organization for culturally-based fraternities and sororities. They promote a rich tapestry of backgrounds, inclusivity, and cultural awareness within the Greek community at Texas A&M. MGC advocates for:

  • Social and cultural issues,
  • Cross-cultural understanding,
  • Celebration & preservation of individual’s cultural heritage.
